It appears to me that there are two distinct phases within a man’s life. The two are governed somewhat by age but not entirely. For example, it is possible for an older man to have never made the transition and thus still be operating from a first half of life mindset. When we see such a man we think to ourselves, “How sad, he never got it, he is still a kid.”
On the other hand, a younger man may very well be operating out of a second half of life framework. Circumstances have dictated that he assume responsibilities meant for much older men. Generally his responsibilities are directed towards the well being of others in his family and community.
