Packing List
The Rocky Mountains are a wondrous beauty to behold, but the weather can be unpredictable due to the altitude (just above 7,500 feet above sea level). You will need to bring clothing and gear for a variety of conditions and activities.
- Comfortable jeans and/or lightweight breathable pants
- T-shirts—100% synthetic works best
- Socks—wool or synthetic that properly fit your footwear
- Layered clothing—long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, fleece jacket, windbreaker/raincoat—lightweight synthetic breathable materials are best
- Hiking boots
- Warm gloves
- Hat for sun protection
- A nice, white, collared shirt and slacks for manhood ceremony
Toiletries
- Sunscreen—the sun can be very strong at higher altitude
- Razor
- Comb or brush
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Lip balm
- Prescription medications (if needed); bring extras for emergencies
- Contact lens solution
- (opt) Insect repellent—products containing DEET work best, but pack it carefully as it will dissolve most plastics!
Gear:
- Nalgene water bottle or equivalent
- Daypack—lightweight and large enough to carry extra clothes, water and food
- Sun-glasses
- Bandana
- Camera and batteries
