Packing List
The Rocky Mountains are a wondrous beauty to behold, but the weather can be unpredictable due to the altitude (just above 7,500 feet above sea level). You will need to bring clothing and gear for a variety of conditions and activities.

  • Comfortable jeans and/or lightweight breathable pants
  • T-shirts—100% synthetic works best
  • Socks—wool or synthetic that properly fit your footwear
  • Layered clothing—long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, fleece jacket, windbreaker/raincoat—lightweight synthetic breathable materials are best
  • Hiking boots
  • Warm gloves
  • Hat for sun protection
  • A nice, white, collared shirt and slacks for manhood ceremony

Toiletries

  • Sunscreen—the sun can be very strong at higher altitude
  • Razor
  • Comb or brush
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Lip balm
  • Prescription medications (if needed); bring extras for emergencies
  • Contact lens solution
  • (opt) Insect repellent—products containing DEET work best, but pack it carefully as it will dissolve most plastics!

Gear:

  • Nalgene water bottle or equivalent
  • Daypack—lightweight and large enough to carry extra clothes, water and food
  • Sun-glasses
  • Bandana
  • Camera and batteries
